We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, delivering high quality power systems engineering projects, and maintaining technical excellence within the team.

In this position, you will engage with a wide array of projects that span various aspects of power systems engineering, including:

  • Advising on power system and market studies, specifically in emerging regional markets
  • Planning projects across both distribution and transmission levels
  • Executing studies related to both renewable and conventional generation
  • Development of advanced power system monitoring solutions
  • Data management and large scale software integration of PowerFactory tools
  • Development of dynamic controller models in PowerFactory, PSCAD and/or PSS/E software
  • Performing dynamic stability simulations and analysis
  • Assessing GPS compliance and conducting R2 model validation testing

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out power system studies including load flow, stability, short circuit, harmonics, switching transient, reliability, and others.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring we deliver the highest level of service.
  3. Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations to clients and industry.
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and continuous improvement in the team.
  5. Keep up-to-date with latest technologies and trends in the power systems field.
  6. Availability to travel as needed, both domestically and internationally, to meet client and project requirements.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees (M.Sc., Ph.D.) will be considered favourably.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering.
  3. Experience with power systems software, preferably DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E and/or PSCAD.
  4. Excellent understanding of power system dynamics and control, power electronics, and power system protection.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team.
  6. Strong client relationship skills.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Location: This role is based in Brisbane, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement allowing for both office-based work and remote work-from-home opportunities.
  • This role may require occasional travel.
